Corazón Supports Four Local Measures

At Corazón we’re committed to ending cycles of poverty and creating a strong, connected community where all our neighbors can thrive. As part of the commitment, we have carefully considered the local measures that will be on the ballot for the upcoming election, and are supporting four measures we believe could help create a more equitable and inclusive Healdsburg.

Healdsburg’s Measure R

Our Healdsburg students deserve accessible, safe and cutting-edge learning environments where every child can dream big and reach their full potential. With more than two thirds of HUSD’s elementary students facing economic hardships, these improvements are crucial to ensure that all students have access to an exceptional educational environment. Measure R will fund much-needed elementary school upgrades, including classroom modernization, ADA access improvements at the historic 1935 Healdsburg Elementary School campus and the expansion of Transitional Kindergarten facilities. Additionally, it will replace the outdated Healdsburg Swim Center, providing students and the community with an invaluable resource for health and recreation. You can read more about Measure R here.

Healdsburg’s Measure O

We hope that Measure O will create more possibilities for long-time community members to stay and put down roots in the place they call home, while also opening doors for others who work and contribute to our town. It would lift limits on the number of multifamily homes that can be built along key areas in town, specifically along Healdsburg Ave. and around the future SMART station. Measure O aims to fill a gap in the current housing market, providing more options for essential workers, young families, and the next generation of Healdsburg residents. This is a step towards a broad spectrum of housing options that meet the needs of all our neighbors. Learn more about Measure O here.

Sonoma County’s Measure I

During the first five years of life, access to quality childcare and early education can make all the difference in a child's development, helping them flourish emotionally, socially and academically. Measure I proposes a modest 1/4-cent sales tax to fund early childcare, education and health care for low- and middle-income children in our community. Measure I also aims to improve mental health services and provide essential support for families facing challenges like homelessness. By investing in our youngest learners during these critical years, we can create a brighter future for Sonoma County, where every child starts school ready to learn and succeed. Sonoma County’s Measure W

Public libraries are essential community hubs. Our local library system offers more than just books; it provides important resources for connection, learning and growth for everyone in our community. Renewing the 1/8-cent sales tax will sustain nearly 40% of the Sonoma County Library's funding, ensuring access to internet services, educational programs and meeting spaces. As a key partner in our mission, the library helps us promote inclusivity and support diverse needs. Learn more about Measure W here.

Thanks for taking the time to read about these important measures. We truly believe that supporting education, housing, and early childhood development is key to building a stronger, more connected Healdsburg and Sonoma County.

We know that elections can often feel divisive, but we’re dedicated to working together for the good of our community. No matter our differences, we know we all want to build a better future for all.
